Customization

Custom Odoo development that survives upgrades

Standard Odoo covers most of what most businesses do. For the rest, we build custom modules properly — as separate, upgrade-safe code, not edits to the core.

When customization is the right answer

Our default position is to configure before we code. Every custom module is something that has to be maintained, tested and carried forward at every future upgrade. But some processes genuinely are your competitive advantage, and forcing them into a standard workflow destroys value.

  • ✓Custom modules. New objects, screens and business logic for processes Odoo has no concept of.
  • ✓Fields and views. Additional data captured where your team already works, without cluttering screens for everyone else.
  • ✓Automated workflows. Approval chains, escalations, scheduled actions and conditional notifications.
  • ✓Pricing and discount logic. Contract rates, volume breaks and customer-specific rules that standard price lists can't express.
  • ✓Reports and dashboards. Printed documents and management views built to the numbers your managers actually ask for.
  • ✓Access rules. Record-level security so branches, teams or subsidiaries only see what they should.
How we keep customizations safe Everything is built as a separate module with its own version control, never as a patch to Odoo's core. That is the difference between an upgrade taking a fortnight and an upgrade being impossible.

Our development approach

  1. SpecificationEvery requirement written up with the expected behaviour and acceptance criteria, then approved by you before a line is written.
  2. Estimate and approvalFixed effort per item so you can decide what's worth building and what can wait for phase two.
  3. Build on stagingDeveloped against a copy of your live database, never directly on production.
  4. Test and reviewYou test against the acceptance criteria on staging and sign off before anything is deployed.
  5. Deploy and documentReleased to production with the module documented so any competent Odoo developer can maintain it later.

A word on scope

If a request would be better solved by changing a process than by writing code, we'll say so. That conversation occasionally loses us a few days of billable development, and it has saved clients far more than that in maintenance they never had to carry.
